           - The Nomination
           - Form Feedback

    • Please fill out the form completely. Incomplete forms will not be processed. This form stays active for one hour. If you do not receive a copy emailed to you as a confirmation, the form was not accepted.
    • It can take time to write a great nomination. If you have not done any prior brainstorming, it could take up to an hour to complete this form. Please give yourself enough time in order to provide accurate information and write a thoughtful nomination.
    • Want to draft your nomination first? Check out our nomination draft sheet.
    • You can save your work at any point by clicking the "Save" button at the bottom of each page. Be sure to click "Skip Create an Account" to avoid creating an account with Jotform. You will then recieve an email with a link, allowing you to continue it at a later time.
    • Be prepared to give two detailed examples of how the nominee's service exceeded expectations of their volunteer role and why it is derserving of an award.
    • Occasionally, a nominee's outstanding service meets the criteria for more than one award. In this case, one should consider which award might be more meaningful to the recipient.
    • Nominations close May 1 2025 at 11:59 p.m. No additional nominations will be accepted after this date.
    • Due to the large volume of nominations, nominators and nominees, the Volunteer Awards Council Team is unable to accommodate expectations of secrecy in the Volunteer Awards process.
  • About You (The Nominator)

  • About the Nominee

  • Did you know GSWCF has more than 5,000 volunteers? Help us identify the nominee by giving us a few details. It's okay if you don't know every piece of information, just do the best you can to provide us with what you know. We will use this information to ensure we are identifying the right person in our system.

  • Not Registered

Thank you for taking the time to submit this information. Nominees must be currently registered Girl Scouts in good standing to receive an award. Please save this form and return once your nominee has a current membership.

  • Not Sure About Registration

We'll check to be sure that the nominee is currently registered and in good standing, as required. If she/he is not, we will be unable to give an award to her/him.

  • Not Sure About Background Check

We'll check to be sure that the nominee has a current background check, as required. If she/he does not, we will attempt to contact the nominee about completing one in order to satisfy this volunteer requirement.

  • Not Background Checked

Please note that most members in a volunteer role (ie. Troop Leaders, Troop Helpers, Service Unit Team members) are required to have a background check on file with Girl Scouts - especially if they are working with girls. If you need to get a member registered into a volunteer role, contact our Customer Care team at info@gwscf.org. Please save and return to this form once your nominee has completed the background check.

  • Choosing the Award Category (cont.)

  • These awards are provided to nominees who have provided outstanding, above and beyond service to Girl Scouting. A nominee may only receive an award once, in recognition of their service to Girl Scouts. Need a quick refresher on each award? Check out our cheat sheet!

  • Let's Get Ready to Write!

Please read the entirety of this page, as it contains important information regarding your written nomination.

All nominations are reviewed by the GSWCF's Volunteer Awards Council Team. This team is comprised of volunteers from across the council. They review each nomination and compare the information presented about the nominee with the criteria established for each award. Remember, those who read the nominations likely do not know the nominee, so the details you provide are vital to the decision making process. They only know what is presented in the nomination.

Please note, only valid nominations will be considered for review. All nominations submitted for a formal volunteer award must meet the following requirements:

    • Nomination is not self-submitted
    • Nomination is original in nature - this means it was not copied and pasted from another nomination or examples of nominations
    • Comprises of at least 2 examples outlining the volunteer's service and impact
    • The nomination is for a current GSWCF member with a current valid background check

Before you start, think why you believe the nominee should be recognized.

How has she/he gone above and beyond the position description? What sets them apart from other volunteers? What are the results of her/his efforts?

Jot down your ideas as you think about the individual, so that you can organize them to include all of the accomplishments. A strong nomination includes the following:

    • Main Idea: A sentence or two to introduce the reader why you are nominating the volunteer.
    • Evidence: A few sentences that explain and provide details on specific examples of the volunteer's actions. This makes your nomination stronger and clearly shows the reader what they have done that sets them apart and deserving of an award.
    • Elaboration: This isn't required, but elaboration explains directly to the reader how your evidence supports your main idea. It gives you the opportunity to summarize why your nominee is deserving of an award, according to your evidence.

See an example of how to write a strong nomination using main ideas, evidence, and elaboration.

Need more time to brainstorm? That's okay! Remember you can save the form by clicking the "Save" button below. Be sure to select "Skip Create an Account" to avoid creating an account with Jotform. You'll then recieve an email with the link to your draft and be able to continue later.

  • The Nomination

The examples should be from your perspective in knowing and/or observing the nominee in her/his role in Girl Scouts, and provide great detail of "how" the nominee has gone above and beyond her/his role within Girl Scouts and is deserving of this award.

  • Next Steps

    • This information will be forwarded to GSWCF's Volunteer Awards Team who will consider this nominee for an award.
    • This counts as one nomination. Most awards require more than one nomination, each from a different nominator. If needed, recruit those who know the nominee to complete additional nominations. You can review award criteria through our awards cheat sheet.
    • Due to the large volume of nominations, nominees and awardees, the GSWCF's Volunteer Award Team is unable to accommodate expectations of secrecy in the Volunteer Award process.
    • Once all nominations have been reviewed, GSWCF's Volunteer Awards Team will determine which award, if any, is applicable based on the submissions. If an award is approved, it will be presented at the Volunteer Awards Ceremony in August or at the Service Unit level, depending on which award has been determined appropriate.
